Child Life and Subaru - Rodney R.
As the child life manager of Niswonger Children's, I have seen first-hand the impact Subaru has made on our patients. Each year, Subaru donates blankets and pillows to our children and their families. These comfort items bring a Subaru "pop" to the room with their classic blue and white. Smiles are bought to our patients and families. I want to ensure everyone is aware of the impact Subaru is making to create an even better experience at Niswonger Children's Hospital!
Subaru Support at Niswonger Children's Hospital - Emily B.
As the Assistant Vice President for Child Health Programs at Niswonger Children's Hospital, I oversee the wrap around services that we provide to our patients and families. These "extra" services include the Children's Resource Centers in Johnson City and Abingdon, our Strong Starts navigation program that currently serves over 13,000 families, Pediatric Care Navigation program in the pediatric subspecialty clinic for our most medically complex and chronically ill patients and the Child Life program that helps kids learn about and cope with treatments while they are in the hospital. Our Child Life department organizes volunteers and plans regular visitors and events for our patients to enjoy. Our Children's Resource Center provides invaluable education to the community, including car seat safety trainings and checks, and hosts many kid-friendly events throughout the region. The Strong Starts program is a social care service that connects families with resources they may need including food, housing, transportation and much more. The care navigators follow the families from prenatal care until the child goes to kindergarten. None of these services would be possible without the philanthropic support of our wonderful partners like the Baker family at Wallace Subaru. As many may know, children's hospitals nationally do not make money. They receive less reimbursement, and providers are paid less than in the adult health care world. Every team member at Niswonger Children's is dedicated to our mission, ensuring a positive experience and overall healthy lives for the kids we serve. Every cent makes a difference when it comes to helping and healing the kids in our region, and we are so grateful!
Thank you, Wallace Subaru for sharing in our vision for a healthier future for your community! - Chris J.
Philanthropy in a children’s hospital is more than just the opportunity to give to a worthy cause. It is an opportunity to share in the vision for a healthier future for your community, and a way to support that vision in a very tangible and meaningful way. We all have ways that we contribute, and financial support is a necessary component to ensuring we have the right equipment, facilities, and people in place, and we are ready to serve our children when the need arises. Thank you to Wallace Subaru and the countless others who choose to support this incredible mission. Christopher Jett CEO, Niswonger Children’s Network
Wallace Subaru of Johnson City continues support of community - mike S.
Wallace Subaru of Johnson City sells cars. We all know that. Sometimes, though, we forget how local businesses work hard to sustain our community. That was the case recently when they, along with Subaru America, donated 150 mature trees, two to three feet tall, to our community to mark Earth Day. Some of the trees wound up outside of the immediate area, and that made the story even better. They found out trees were needed to help in the recovery from Hurricane Helene. So they donated a couple of dozen of the trees to be planted along the Nolichucky River. I say thank you to the good folks at Wallace Subaru of Johnson City for all the good things they do.
Helping Families Recover After Hurricane Helene - Brittany S.
Hello my name is Brittany Smith. I am with Appalachian Books and Blessings. Our group sits on the Spiritual and Emotional Sub Committee under the Washington County Long Term Recovery Group. Our group recently started collecting plants, flowers, trees etc for a group called Nolichucky Bloom. These plants will be placed on properties where homes were destroyed from Hurricane Helene. Multiple organizations such as ASP have been working tirelessly around the clock to rebuild . When I picked up my tree I spoke with Travis, Austin and Ben about maybe picking up 1-2 to donate to these families. To my surprise Wallace loaded our car down with 8 free trees to donate to our organization. Thank you to the staff at Wallace for supporting our organization. Most importantly, thank you for helping our community rebuild after such a devastating storm. I will be sharing photos of the families next to their trees once they are planted .
Coats/Socks/Shoes - Jessi G.
Operation Warm and Wallace Subaru of Johnson City chose our organization to donate over 200 coats/shoes/socks to the East TN families that Youth Villages works with. This was a blessings to the families we serve in the East TN region and came in at the perfect time, when temperatures in TN had dropped. As a non-profit organization this donation made a huge impact on the families we serve. We are grateful to have been chosen again this year by Operation Warm and Wallace Subaru of Johnson City. We are thankful for such wonderful community partners. Thank you!
Subaru Retailers Team Up to Support Hurricane Relief Efforts - Jess M.
At Wallace Subaru - Johnson City, we’re always ready to step up and support our communities, especially in times of crisis. This commitment is at the heart of the Subaru Love Promise®. When Hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated the Eastern region, Subaru retailers like us immediately sprang into action. Alongside other Subaru retailers, Subaru of America, and local organizations, we assessed the most urgent needs in the affected areas. It quickly became clear that local food banks were struggling to keep up with the surge in demand as they worked to support people hit hardest by the storms. In response, we teamed up with 67 Subaru retailers across the region to launch a $400,000 match campaign to aid the hurricane relief efforts of Feeding America®. Wallace Subaru - Johnson City proudly contributed $7500 to this initiative. While the immediate impact of the storms fades from the headlines, many of our neighbors continue to face long-term challenges like food insecurity, water shortages, power outages, and limited access to essential services. Thanks to the collective generosity of Subaru retailers and the communities we serve, an additional $18,427 was raised. This brings the total impact to $418,427, or over 4,100,000 meals for those in need. "As one of the nation's largest disaster relief organizations, the Feeding America network of food banks and partner agencies is deeply rooted in communities across the country. Together, our partnership with trusted Subaru dealers has helped expedite emergency food assistance and supplies to people who need it most. We are immensely grateful," said Feeding America Chief Development Officer Casey Marsh.

Wallace Subaru of Johnson City helps community! - Aleeta G.
I'm always amazed at the level of community involvement Wallace Subaru of Johnson City has. It seems like whenever there is a need, they are there to help. Most recently I saw they had made several donations to Niswonger Children's Hospital. I cannot imagine how their donation of warming blankets for children undergoing treatment and activity boxes to help children pass the time during their hospital stay helped those youngsters. We are blessed to have such generous and caring businesses like Wallace Subaru of Johnson City in the Tri-Cities.

For the past couple of years, the Niswonger Children’s Hospital has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Wallace Subaru- Johnson City through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. Thank You For Making A Difference - Ashley S.
"I am a patient at Niswonger Children's Hospital and received a blanket that Wallace Subaru donated to the hospital. It is crazy how something as simple as getting a fuzzy blanket completely changed how well I slept at night here at the hospital. Thank you!"
Big thank you to Wallace Subaru and Operation Warm! - Betsy L.
Youth Villages in East TN is extremely blessed to be gifted with coats, shoes, and socks from Wallace Subaru and Operation Warm, More than a coat! Our children and families throughout the East TN will be able to have warm coats and shoes thanks to this partnership!
Blankets make a difference! - Ashlee S.
Niswonger Children's Hospital absolutely loves the donations from Subaru. The soft blankets really make a difference during a hospital stay when usually kids only have a hospital blanket. It gives them comfort and a more normal "homey" environment. Our patients thank you!
Meals on Wheels Has Huge Impact on Community - David W. - mike s.
For a time, I delivered meals to the same route and every day, I had two gentlemen that always came to mind and in worried about their stability and health. One, assisted by a walker, could barely make it to the door to receive his meal. The other was so unsteady on his feet, I always had to assist him in getting back sat down and settled. After 3-4 months of not delivering this meal, I was happy to see a change when I returned. The first gentleman was walking with ease without a walker, while the other approached me with better posture and stability. I am happy to witness the change this program is making to our community and am thankful for all of our supporters like Wallace Subaru of Johnson City for making it possible.
Meals on Wheels Delivers More Than Meals - Nancy L. - mike s.
I enjoy delivering meals as each day has new experiences and opportunity to further help the seniors I visit. One experience I will never forget is when I went Ms. V’s home as usual, and after knocking several times, there is was no answer. I then become worried, so I called my meal site coordinator to get in touch with her emergency contact. When Ms. V’s daughter arrived, we entered the home and found her in the floor unable to move and had been there since the early evening before. Thankfully, she was able to get the help she needed and returned home in good health. I still deliver her meals daily. I learned that day how this program really does provide more than a meal, through in-home safety check I provided to Mrs. V that saved her life. Thankfully with partners like Wallace Subaru of Johnson City we can help people like Mrs. V and everyone we serve.
Giving Back Is Rewarding To All - Kevin W. - Mike S.
I enjoy volunteering not only to help provide a daily meal to seniors but also to provide a friendly visit we all enjoy. This program benefits me just as much as it does the recipients, making me feel that I am making a difference in my community. The time I spend with seniors while volunteering brings core memories into my life while helping the health of them both mentally and physically. Thank you Wallace Subaru of Johnson CIty for helping us help others.
Subaru Loves Pets - Tammy D.
What does it mean to be the underdog? It means you have to fight harder than anyone else to win. Just ask Charlie. Charlie was found neglected and abused on the side of the road. He was emaciated, abused, and left to die. Charlie was hungry and injured but Charlie had a heart of gold and the will to survive. Charlie would need surgery to repair his fractured leg and hip. Thankfully the WCJC Animal Shelter was able to provide Charlie with the love and support he needed to recover from his injuries. Charlie may have appeared to be the underdog but he came out on top. Charlie was adopted by a loving family and now he has a human brother to play with. We are so thankful that our community supports our shelter so we can help the "underdogs" get adopted. Thanks for your support, Subaru!
Excellent Customer Service - Debra B.
In the Tri-Cities, TN area there are three Subaru dealers. We have visited the other two dealerships and felt they just didn't provide the level of customer service that Wallace Subaru of Johnson City provided. My husband and I have been a customer of Wallace Subaru of Johnson City for over 12 years. During that time we have purchased a 2014 Outback, a 2018 Outback and recently a 2022 Forester. We are hardcore Subaru owners, as the first one we bought was in 1979 and have never been without one since. We have purchased a 1979 Subaru DL, 1992 Subaru Loyale and a 2002 Subaru Forester from a Subaru dealer in a different state. Over the years we have dealt with many Subaru Sales Departments in different states. With that in mind, we decided to write about our interactions with your Sales Department. We were ready to purchase a new Subaru and Stan was the salesman that assisted us. The problem was we were not exactly sure which model would best serve our needs. We would view a model and even road test to see if that model would be right for us. Over the year we had Stan assist us to check other models and road test them as well. We finally decided on a 2022 Forester and have been very pleased that we selected this model. Stan has a wealth of knowledge regarding the Subaru models. If he isn't sure of the answer to a question, he quickly checks to verify the information to make sure his answer is accurate. Stan has a very genuine concern for his customer and it shows every time he interacts with them. He helped us numerous times and never once was unpleasant or unprofessional. In this business environment where customer service is not provided, Stan proves that there are employees who still believe in service to the customer. He has a very pleasant personality and his interaction with his customers is exceptional. Stan is a true asset to your dealership and the Subaru brand. Sincerely, Debra and Charles Burton

Serving Students with Special Needs - Leila H.
Boones Creek Elementary School was thrilled to receive the news that Wallace Imports of Johnson City wanted to give 10 of our teachers $500 in partnership with AdoptaClassroom.org. We are the largest school in Washington County and also have the largest population of students with special needs. We have decided to give this donation to our Special Educators to create a sensory room for all the students with special needs at Boones Creek Elementary School to benefit from. We are so excited to be able to create a space that will provide sensory breaks for our students so that they can burn some energy or just take some time to play with a few sensory toys to help them reset and feel calm for the remainder of their day. We plan on starting this project in August and will post some pictures of our finished product then. A HUGE thank you to Wallace for their generosity! This room will be an amazing help to our sweet students!
